Jim Morris - 72 Year Old Vegan Body Builder

I'm not a big fan of veganism, but everyone has to find the diet that works for them - and clearly, the dude has it going on. I suddenly feel like a slacker. 72 year-old Jim Morris stays in shape working out one hour a day and eating a vegan diet.

Off to the gym for a workout.

Just curious why you are "not a big fan of veganism"? If someone wants to eat a plant based diet that is good for them, for animals, and for the earth, then why do you care??

Did you read the rest of the comment? I'm cool with people finding whatever works for them.

As for me, I need meat or I feel like shit. I'm an omnivore, as evolution intended.

If someone else wants to do something different, and they know how to do it in a healthy way, more power to them.

I eat a plant based diet also. I lost a great deal of weight. I also grow my own sprouts. It's the best thing I ever did. I eat sprout salads, sprout sandwiches and while I do eat some fish, I haven't eaten red meat in over 10 years. Look up Benefits of Sprouting. It's inexpensive, easy to buy onine at many organic sprouting websites and it's fun. I'll never go back to eating unhealthy ever again.

"as evolution intended."?

Do you consider the human mind and its independent thought a development not "intended" by - or even contrary to - the wise forces of nature, e.g. evolution ?

what the human wants often does not relate to physical health very directly - witness the 66% overweight/obesity rate in the US - clearly, the human mind can WANT a lot of stuff that is not best for the body

we evolved to be omnivores (look at our teeth: incisors to tear meat, molars to grind nuts, seeds, fibrous vegetables) - we function best physically on an omnivorous diet

Ah, but to eat "cruelty free", with no other being dying so you may have nourishment! A noble and reachable goal, no?

I don't think people function "best" on an omnivore diet. Obviously, not the gentleman you featured in your post. I can't imagine he's the only one a vegan diet worked for. I'm sure he doesn't have some special, rare body type that thrives on veggies while the rest of us are better off eating meat. Anyways, our teeth didn't evolve to eat meat, but cooked foods. We don't have incisors to tear meat. The reason we can eat meat in the first place is because can cook it, not tear raw hunks of it apart
